Your Privacy is Protected
ScreenCap Pro does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All screenshot processing happens locally on your device. We have no servers, no analytics, and no tracking.
Overview
ScreenCap Pro is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to capture screenshots of web pages. This privacy policy explains what information we access and how we use it.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Our extension is designed with a "privacy-first" approach — we don't want your data, and we've built our extension to never collect it.
Data We Don't Collect
ScreenCap Pro does NOT collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or web activity
- Screenshots or captured images
- Website content you visit
- Usage analytics or statistics
- Device information or identifiers
- Location data
- Any form of tracking data
Data Stored Locally
The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- User Preferences: Your selected capture mode, export format, quality settings, and other preferences
- Temporary Image Data: When using the annotation editor, image data is temporarily stored locally until you save or cancel
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. You can clear this data anytime by removing the extension.
Permissions Explained
Our extension requires certain permissions to function. Here's exactly why we need each one:
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| activeTab | To capture screenshots of the webpage you're currently viewing when you click the capture button |
| scripting | To scroll pages for full-page capture and display the selection overlay for area capture |
| downloads | To save your captured screenshots to your Downloads folder |
| storage | To remember your preferences (format, quality, etc.) locally on your device |
| clipboardWrite | To copy screenshots to your clipboard when you enable the "Copy to Clipboard" feature |
| Host permissions | To inject the capture scripts on web pages when you initiate a screenshot |
Third-Party Services
ScreenCap Pro does not use any third-party services, APIs, or analytics tools. There are:
- No analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No crash reporting services
- No advertising networks
- No external APIs
- No cloud storage
Everything happens locally on your device.
Data Security
Since we don't collect any data, there's no data to secure on our end. Your screenshots and preferences remain on your device and are protected by your operating system's security measures.
We recommend keeping your browser and operating system updated to ensure the best security.
Children's Privacy
ScreenCap Pro does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. Our extension is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
If we ever make significant changes to how we handle data (which is unlikely given our privacy-first approach), we will notify users through the extension update notes.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) don't apply. However, you always have the right to:
- Uninstall the extension at any time
- Clear locally stored preferences through Chrome's extension settings
- Contact us with any privacy questions or concerns
Open Source Transparency
We believe in transparency. Our extension's functionality is straightforward — we capture screenshots, provide editing tools, and save files locally. No hidden data collection, no surprises.
